The show they nearly gave — with a ghostly twist
The Lowest Lanes have dried out their band gear from a Festival of Friends deluge that cancelled their mainstage performance in August, and are ready to hit the stage again . This time indoors. With special guests Ron MacDonald on standup bass and Steve Sinnicks on drums, the Lanes perform the show they nearly gave with a Halloween theme. Join Kris Rochard, Meredith MacLeod and Mark McNeil… for a ghostly night of music and mayhem at The Pearl Company, a former casket factory. Dress up as your favourite dead (or alive) person. There might even be a spare coffin for you to crawl into. Â
If you don’t know “The Lowest Lanes”, they are a group of Spectator newsroom hangers-on (they write editorials and business articles and such) whose other life includes rich vocal harmonies and a distinctive repertoire of roots-based and original material. The band features veteran folk music performer Mark McNeil on lead and harmony vocals as well as guitar, slide guitar, mandolin and ukulele. Kris Rochard, of Toronto, sings lead and harmony vocals and plays guitar and mandolin. Meredith MacLeod sings lead and harmony vocals and plays guitar and four-string banjo. All are respected solo performers as well.
