Patricia Cano, “This is the New World”: Sunday, November 8: Doors open 6:00, Concert at 8:00. $15 at the door. $10 Students / Seniors. As part of the closing of our ‘Vanishing Beauty’ Amazonian Art Exhibition, Patricia Cano will launch her first album entitled “This Is the New World”. Patricia will be joined onstage by her musical partner and composer, Carlos Bernardo, Luis Orbegoso, her producer and arranger on drums, bongos and cajón, bass player Roberto Occhipinti, of The Sicilian Jazz Project, Maninho Costa on brazilian percussion, Marcus Ali tenor sax, and Peter Kim on trumpet. Born to Peruvian parents in Sudbury, ON, Patricia began her professional singing career with Tomson Highway, performing in two of his plays, as well as traveling the world performing a Cree cabaret of his work!
She also worked four years with the world-renowned theatre company, le Théâtre du Soleil in Paris, France, an experience that led her to South Korea to study traditional Korean singing. In 2008, Patricia spent six months in the ‘Carioca’ jazz scene of Rio de Janeiro where she began her professional partnership with Carlos Bernardo.
In August of this year, Patricia recorded her first album, featuring a meeting of Afro-Peruvian, samba, as well as American folk and blues inspired rhythms! This concert is part of her CD Launch tour.
