Concert: Shari Vandermolen, Sat Nov 21
Quarter to Nine: Saturday November 21. Doors open 8:00. Concert at 8:30. $15 / $10 Seniors and Students. Quarter to Nine is the musical duo of Shari Vandermolen on vocals and Trevor Price on piano. Incorporating the sweet soft jazz feel of days gone by, Quarter to Nine’s influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Etta James; the music ranges from Jazz Standards to well-loved show tunes spiced up with a touch of blues for good measure. The guitar duo of Gary Santucci and Dimitrius Doumas will provide a dynamic opener for the evening.
Shari’s training as an actor imbues her music with an emotional edge that takes us places we have never been with these songs. Quarter to Nine is an experience as much as a concert.
Fans of local musical theatre have been treated to Shari’s unique vocal stylings in productions of SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN (Etobicoke Musical Productions), COMPANY, HEART OF BROADWAY (Hammer Entertainment), STAGE TO SCREEN (Hamilton Theatre, Inc.), and BABY – THE MUSICAL (Shooting Star Theatre Productions). Shari also lends her time and talent to a number of community projects such as her musical tribute Remembrance Day weekend in St. George commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy. She has also just completed a run of Laundomat at the End of the World at Theatre Aquarius’ Best of the Fringe (in which she did not sing, – what a pity).
TREVOR PRICE brings a wealth of expertise, experience and enthusiasm to any musical project. As an accomplished pianist, organist, and keyboardist, Trevor is a much sought-after accompanist in the Greater Hamilton area, appearing at many diverse and notable venues. He is co-founder of the Jazz Duo Quarter-to-Nine which recently performed at the Pearl Gallery in Hamilton as the feature act, and provided pre-show entertainment for Dundas Little Theatre. He is the founding member of The Trevor Price Band, a local rock band that plays originals and covers through the decades. The Trevor Price band most recently performed at Bayfront Park for the well-attended and popular 18th Annual Hamilton Case For Kids Walk, with upcoming band engagements scheduled for the Fall in the Hamilton area. Trevor has years of experience as a choral conductor, working as a Musical Director and Choirmaster at several large Churches in the city. He is the recipient of the William Hewitt Memorial Scholarship for excellence in organ playing and studied choral conducting with the RCCO. He has opened for the Dofasco Male Chorus and been the local accompanist of choice for internationally renown opera singers, including Allan Monk. Trevor is currently putting final touches on a solo New Age music CD and working with Dundas Little Theatre this summer as Music Director for the Youth Production of the musical You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Trevor also works as a school teacher in Hamilton, is married to wife Cheryl, and has a new beautiful baby daughter, Cristina.
