Big Johnny Blue: Leap Year Blues & Johnny’s 15th Birthday! Saturday, February 29. Doors: 7:30pm. Show: 8:00. When Big Johnny (aka John Crawford) was born it was a leap year. This makes him a large unwieldy 15 year old. And gives us a great excuse for a party!
Big Johnny’s a Hamilton guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and founding member of The Hamilton Blues Society. No matter the venue, Big Johnny captures his audience with the engaging sounds of what he has coined “Hammer Blues”. Guitar: Jon Newton, Bassist: Dano, Drummer: Scott Gardner, Harmonica: Rod McTaggart.
Come; revive your soul with great music and say Happy Birthday in the process!

Christopher Clause’s “ALL TOGETHER NOW”: First Wednesday of every month; begins March 4. 7:30 until 10:00 p.m. Admission: $10. A Beatles’ Open Mic! If you love the Beatles, this open mic is for you. An ALL BEATLES’ Open Mic, hosted by the city’s most celebrated interpreters of the Fabs’ music and beloved open mic hosts, Christopher Clause himself. “All Together Now” is an all-ages affair where you can perform on your own, with your friends, with Christopher or simply be a part of the audience. There will be a sign-up sheet at the door with a first-come, first served song selection process. The open mic is not limited to just the group’s works, but their solo material as well (and the odd covers that the lads did on record and/or live). Bring your instruments (acoustic instruments preferred) and we will provide microphones, instruments cables, picks, capos, music stands, a baby grand piano and access to an iPad (for lyrics or chord charts).
At the end of the night, Christopher will invite all of the guests for the evening onto the stage to perform two classic Beatles’s songs together in a jam-like setting. Perfect.

Comments Off on The Arrogant Worms: Friday, February 7
The Arrogant Worms: Friday, February 7. Doors: 7:00pm. Show: 7:30. Tickets: $30/$25 students. The Arrogant Worms began in 1991 as a comedy troupe performing songs and sketches on Queen’s University campus radio. The songs were written to make fun of a big dumb world. Luckily, the world is still dumb and The Arrogant Worms (Mike McCormick, Chris Patterson and Trevor Strong) still have plenty to sing about. The shows are fast, furious and family friendly. The wit is quick, the satire is biting and the musicianship is second to none. Their appeal has earned them fans from kids to parents to grandparents to Princess Leia. On earth or in space, everyone digs these Worms.
The Arrogant Worms continue to provide tuneful and silly escapism for everyone who needs it. And if you think you don’t need it, well you’re wrong. You do. The Arrogant Worms know what’s best for you and what’s best for you is The Arrogant Worms. https://www.arrogantworms.com
Chris Patterson – sings and plays the bass. He has a children’s album called “Small Potatoes”. www.chrispatterson.ca Trevor Strong – sings and plays instruments when he remembers to bring them. He wrote a book called Get Stupid. www.trevorstrong.org Mike McCormick – sings and plays the guitar. He has two degrees but he can’t find them anywhere. Comments Off on Carlos del Junco & The Blues Mongrels: Saturday, January 25
Carlos del Junco & The Blues Mongrels: Saturday, January 25, Doors: 7:30pm. Show: 8:00. Tickets: $25 door; $20 advance. Carlos del Junco is a harmonica virtuoso who has won numerous national and international awards for his unique playing style. Simultaneously sophisticated and raw, his playing blurs the boundaries between blues and jazz (ergo, “The Blues Mongrels”). Caught between the blues and jazz world, Carlos and band deliver a seamless fusion of everything from swing to Latin, second line New Orleans grooves to swampy folk roots melodies, and even “world music”.
Carlos’ new CD Hang On features Eric St. Laurent and Henry Heillig on guitar and bass respectively, some back-up vocals from Jimmy Bowskill, with Kevin Breit playing on mandolin and 12 sting resonator guitar on a couple of songs. You can listen to some sound bytes of the new disc here: http://www.carlosdeljunco.com
“A model of focus and urgency…a true virtuoso…” Brad Wheeler – The Globe and Mail

Glengarry Glen Ross, winner of the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, showcases playwright David Mamet at his very best. This iconic piece was also turned into a celebrated film, starring Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, and Alec Baldwin.
Presented by Nortesur Productions. Cast: Mischa Aravena, Mark Ellis, Rod McTaggart, Chris Reid, Kayla Gambrill, Walter Reid, Joel Pettigrew, John Patrick. Directed by David Nash.
