Art Bus, Cuban Exchange, Labour Day Sept 7
September 7: A Labour Day Art Bus heads out at 10 am to join the Labour Day Parade and then explore the Cuba/Hamilton Exchange art happenings at Dundurn Castle, the Griffin House and Fieldcote. Those who do not wish to join us for the parade can meet up with the bus at The Pearl Company at 12:15 pm or at Dundurn Castle (first stop) at 12:30. Call Barbara at 905-524-0606 to reserve. $15
Art Bus on Labour Day will tour a series of site specific projects by local and visiting artists involved in the Cuban / Hamilton Artist Exchange (The Red Tree Artists’ Collective; ReMix Institute). Phase 2 of ReMix, the Hamilton/Cienfuegos artists’ exchange takes place from August to October, 2009, at a number of sites in Hamilton and beyond. Hamilton event highlights are scheduled for the Labour Day weekend at Dundurn Castle, Fieldcote House, Griffin House, Workers Arts and Heritage Centre, and the Pearl Company.
This public presentation of artworks represents the second phase of an international exchange project. In spring 2009, ten artists from the greater Hamilton Area worked with Cuban artists in Cienfuegos, Cuba, and exhibited with them in a parallel event at the Havana biennial.
