Randal Hill & Joe Clark: Friday, September 25 at 8:30, $15 at the door. An Evening with the Masters of the Mandolin; contemporary, original, and traditional mandolin music. These two incredibly talented musicians will blow your musical circuits into high gear!
Randal Hill has been a professional band leader and sideman for 33 years touring Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Randal is also an in-demand recording session musician and a nine time winner of Canadian Bluegrass Mandolinist of the year. His wide range of styles includes Bluegrass, Celtic, Rockabilly, Swing, and Rock playing mandolin, banjo, acoustic and electric guitars. Randal has performed and/or recorded with Sylvia Tyson, Ian Thomas, Graham Townsend, Prairie Oyster, Tom Wilson, Crooked Jack, Willie P. Bennett, Garnet Rogers, Colleen Petersen, Caitlin Hanford, and more. Randal’s superb musicianship mixed with his unique sense of humour always makes for an entertaining show.
Joe Clark started playing the mandolin at age 8. At the age of 11 he was mentored by “The Legendary Bill Monroe”. In his thirty years in the Bluegrass Music Industry, he has recorded 2 albums with Monroe’s fiddle player of 27 years, Kenny Baker; and Uncle Josh Graves (one of the founding members of Flatt and Scruggs band). He has performed in just about every State, in most Canadian Provinces and in the Bahamas and has been a session musician since age 12 playing all styles of music. Some of his Musical Accomplishments: Austin City Limits PBS Broadcast, 25th Anniversary with Earl Scruggs, Ricky Skaggs, Ralph Stanley and Larry Sparks, Grand Ole Opry Nashville TN, Earnest Tubb Record Shop Midnight Jamboree( Live On WSM Radio), Telluride Festival Denver Colorado, Earth Fest Washington DC, the Bob and Doug Mackenzie Cartoon with Ian Thomas and much more.
