Concert: Delapaix & Featherstone, Sept 26
Emaline Delapaix with Sahra Featherstone: Saturday September 26, 8:30, $15 at the door. Emaline Delapaix and Sahra Featherstone collaborate on both original and traditional material through the use of celtic harp and violin, a little acoustic guitar and vocal harmonies. With special guest multi-instrumentalist Jessica Stuart. Join them in an intimate evening celebrating the passing of Summer and welcoming in the Fall.
Emaline Delapaix is an Aussie singer songwriter who lives in a cabin on an island in Canada surrounded by mountains and a giant lake with her big orange cat Reece. She spends a lot of time writing odd folk pop for piano, acoustic guitar and harp and sometimes whatever else she has lying about the place. Some say she sounds a little like Kate Bush or Tori Amos, but she also loves a lot of Scandinavian music: music that invokes the weather like storms and warm sunsets. These days she is writing quieter songs, prefering her music to sneak up on the listener. A live performance with Emaline Delapaix is a lot of fun, incorporating audience sing-a-longs, lots of laughter, unusual instrumentation, intricate rhythms with clever and achingly beautiful arrangements held together by exquisite vocals and harmonies.
Sahra Featherstone is a multi-instrumentalist, performer and recording artist, among other things. She performs on celtic harp, violin, flute and whistles. In 2003 she released her first solo album of original and traditional instrumental pieces, featuring herself on harp with guests including Don Ross, Brian Pickell and the late Oliver Schroer. She regularly performs and records with numerous artists including her duo partner Jason Fowler, Fig for A Kiss and Emaline Delapaix and has just released her second solo album.
