Wolsak & Wynn publishers present a launch of three new works April 29th at the Pearl Company, 16 Steven St, Hamilton. Doors open 7 pm, readings begin 7:30pm. Author readings, book signings and refreshments.

Artword Theatre’s “Tobacco Troubadour” Apr 15-26

Artword_Tobacco_sm.jpgArtword Theatre’s fourth show in its 2008-2009 Hamilton season. Tobacco Troubadour, a new play about growing up in tobacco country and its lively dance hall scene, based on the songs of J.P. Riemens, with script and direction by Ronald Weihs, design by Judith Sandiford. Runs April 15 to 26, 2009. Performed by the Artword Theatre Ensemble: Paula Grove, Tanis MacArthur, Gordon Odegaard, Ryan Sero. Music performed J.P. Riemens & The Barflies: (J.P. Eco Film & Arts Festival launch, Apr 21 2009

ManufactLand_DVD_SM.jpgThe Hamilton Eco Film and Arts Festival kicks off with a screening of “Manufactured Landscapes”, a film by  Jennifer Baichwal, with photographer Edward Burtynsky, who travels the world observing changes in landscapes due to industrial work and manufacturing. Kim and Frank Koren will provide the music for the evening. Doors open at 6:30, screening at 7:30, music at 9:15; admission $15.00. At The Pearl Company, 16 Steven Street, Hamilton

Net proceeds from the festival will establish a fund through Arts Hamilton that will assist local film makers and artists in creating environmentally inspired works.

Concert: Killin’ Time, April 11

The Jazz Connection Big Band, a 20-piece big band based in Hamilton Ontario, is made up of musicians dedicated to playing great, straight-ahead jazz in a big band setting.
